Exposure to sunlight helps the brain regulate sleep cycles and enhances mood. In fact, sun exposure is often indicated in the treatment of depression. Unfortunately, due to our modern lifestyles that keep us indoors for the majority of the day, most people do not get enough sunlight exposure. In my work as a psychologist, I often work with depressed clients, aiding them in increasing sunlight exposure as part of their treatment.
I discovered an interesting device that may be useful for those who are working to understand more about their daily sun exposure. SunSprite is a small, wearable device that tracks your daily exposure. This way, you can know whether or not you are getting enough sunlight in your normal daily routine. You can sync your device wirelessly to your smartphone in order to set goals and view your progress. SunSprite runs on sun; so there are no cords, plugs, or batteries. Check out www.sunsprite.com
