This article is a must-read for anyone interested in the powerful of effects of lifestyle on our mental health.
At my private practice in Austin, I often incorporate lifestyle changes in order to boost the effects of therapy. For instance, if a client presents with depression, there is a lot of good that can be done in the therapy room. However, the benefits of therapy may be in jeopardy if that client does not make some changes to their lifestyle outside of the therapy room, such as engaging in physical activity, spending quality time with others, doing enjoyable activities, and getting some important nutrients from diet and supplements. In therapy, I guide the client in figuring out a plan that is realistic and attainable so they can experience long-lasting mental health results.
